Rex Heuermann Confesses to Strangling and Abandoning 8 Women

As part of his plea deal, Rex will be sentenced to three consecutive life terms and 100 more.

The serial killer also agreed to cooperate with members of the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit.

These murders took place between 1993 and 2010.

In court, Rex was cross-examined by the Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierneyand admitted to strangling his victims in the basement of his Massapequa home – some of whom he admitted had performed surgery on themselves.

“Strangulation,” Rex said when asked how he killed the eight women. A source inside the court confirmed that Rex did not show any emotion on his face as he admitted that he had been brutally murdered.

Reporters swarmed Ellerup and Victoria after the hearing, following the women into the parking lot.

Asa said that it is suspected that he told reporters that he felt bad for the victims but did not speak beyond that.

News of the plea deal broke last month, when relatives of some of Rex's alleged victims told the Long Island Daily. Newsday they had heard from prosecutors that there would be a trial on April 8.

Rex, who was married with two grown children, was arrested in July 2023 outside his Manhattan office in connection with three murders in Gilgo Beach. Asa divorced the serial killer a few months after his arrest.

Investigators spent weeks going over every inch of Rex's house, collecting evidence and finding dozens of guns in the basement.
