Eala is determined to return home before a tough season with the US Open

ALEXANDRA “ALEX” EALA is determined to return home to meet the fans in the Philippines before she begins a grueling season in the United States later this month.

After an amazing Wimbledon run, Ms. Eala will be in the country on July 15 at the Glorrieta Activity Center in Makati City for the “Home Court: Alex Eala Fan Meet Experience” hosted by Globe, where he serves as the Gen G Ambassador.

The event will be open to the public although entry details are still to be provided.

Ms Eala, who is expected to arrive as soon as this weekend, will talk about her trip to Wimbledon and her preparations for the next Grand Slam, which is the US Open from August 30 to September 13 in New York.

“We celebrate the homecoming of the Filipina tennis star following her inspiring Wimbledon campaign – a journey that showcased not only her world-class talent, but also the tenacity, resilience, and courage that continues to inspire millions of Filipinos, especially the youth,” the announcement said.

This will be the second time Ms. Eala returns home to Manila this year after winning the Philippine Women's Open in January at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex following a banner year that saw her reach number 29 in the world rankings.

But this time, he will return to Philippine shores with big, big achievements under his belt.

Mrs. Eala achieved the following in Philippine tennis at Wimbledon, which is considered the mecca of tennis at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London: the first seeded Filipina player in Grand Slam history, the first Filipina to win Wimbledon and the first to reach the third and fourth rounds of the Grand Slam respectively.

That run included an Earth-shaking 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 upset of reigning champion and world No. 3 Iga Swiatek of Poland that made headlines around the world and drew reactions and praise from Catherine, Princess of Wales, Billie Jean King, Venus Williams and idol Ms. The great Maria Sharapo.

She is expected to take it out at the Cincinnati Open, Toronto Open and other WTA Tour stops leading up to the US Open at Flushing Meadows as the final Grand Slam of the season.
