Costco slashes prices on Kirkland's wings, chocolate almonds, golf balls, sheets

Costco has quietly lowered prices on several popular Kirkland Signature items, including products shoppers had flagged online as too expensive.

During the company's latest earnings call on May 28, executives said the price cuts affected at least four of the private label brands, marking potential relief for consumers as inflation has remained high in recent years.

Affected products saw price reductions of about $1 to $10 across categories including food, home goods and sporting goods, CFO Gary Millerchip said during the 2026 third quarter call.

KS Crispy Wings are down from $16.99 to $14.99. KS Milk Chocolate Almonds are down from $19.99 to $18.99. KS golf balls are down from $32.99 to $29.99, while KS King Size Sheets are down from $89.99 to $79.99.

The retailer said the decision was aimed at offering members a higher value while continuing to undercut competitors, as part of its broader pricing strategy.

“Our goal is to be the first to lower prices and the last to raise them,” said CEO Ron Vachris.

Millerchip reinforced that approach, adding: “Our goal is to be the first to lower prices where we see opportunities to do so.”

According to social media users, consumers who have become fond of Kirkland's chocolate-covered almonds say the item has become more expensive in recent years in the US and Canada.

“They're getting too expensive,” one American consumer wrote on Reddit last year.

“I love the Kirkland brand 1.5 kg chocolate covered with almonds,” said one Canadian Costco shopper last year. “They were $17 then they went to $20. Now they're $27!!”

Costco Wholesale did not specify what prompted the latest price cut, but the move follows an earlier incident about a year ago when the retailer voluntarily lowered prices on Kirkland's Signature products.

In 2024, the price of KS macadamia nuts drops from $18.99 to $13.99, Spanish olive oil 3-liter from $38.99 to $34.99, regular foil from $31.99 to $29.99, laundry packets from $19.99 to $18.99 from $18.99 $4.99, Millerchip previously said.

Millerchip added that KS boneless chicken tenders were also down 13%, resulting in a 21% increase in pounds.

“Kirkland Signature offers a significant number of members compared to national brands and continues to grow at a faster rate than our overall business,” Millerchip said.
