How Spurs can sign Morgan Rogers for £60m Premier League star

It felt like one setback after another last year for Tottenham Hotspur, even after winning the Europa League under Ange Postecoglou's watch.
One by one, a string of top targets all went elsewhere, with Eberechi Eze joining Arsenal and Bryan Mbeumo moving to Manchester United, all while the Morgan Gibbs-White deal fell through.
Rivals scoffed at that transfer failure, but no one is laughing now, with the Lilywhites beating Manchester City for Sandro Tonali, after bypassing Man United's pursuit of Mateus Fernandes.
There is an exhilaration to be found in the N17, a feeling that anything is possible again, at least on the transmission front. Could Morgan Rogers be next on the agenda?
Why Morgan Rogers should be Tottenham's priority
The focus seems to be on Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi at the moment, although there has been talk that Spurs could join the race for Rogers, even with current leaders Arsenal.
There are many things at play, including the Gunners' pursuit of Julian Alvarez, who is hard to say anything about this summer after Tonali and Fernandes' statement.
If Rogers can't be tied down at the Emirates, then bringing him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be a nightmare, the 23-year-old has been a sensation back at Aston Villa.
Signed from Middlesbrough in January 2024, the England international is already worth more than £100m, after scoring 60 goals and assisting in 125 appearances at Villa Park.
Strong and powerful, such a threat when crossing the left and when working through the middle. Indeed, in the Premier League last term, Rogers scored and assisted 16 goals, while creating 13 'big chances'.
Only Richarlison is close in terms of goal involvement (15) among the Spurs crop, and no player has reached double figures in 'big chances' created, as Pedro Porro leads the way with eight.
A clear improvement, confirmed by the Premier League Rogers will be to Roberto De Zerbi, and it looks to be the same story for Tottenham's other top target.
Spurs are keen to sign Morgan Rogers 2.0 from the Premier League rivals
As mentioned, it is Arsenal who are expected to win the race between Villa and England as things stand, and interest will increase once the World Cup is over.
Spurs also have the aforementioned Kroupi on their attacking shortlist, and the Frenchman is said to be keen to join, although there are other Premier League targets to consider.
As noted by TalkSPORT's Alex Crook – writing in his transfer book – the north Londoners are still eyeing a deal for Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, even if the Reds are currently unwilling to sell the Dutchman.
Several clubs are said to be showing interest in the 27-year-old player, although things are at a standstill, his future may still lie at Anfield.
Otherwise, the £60m price tag has been raised before, with Gakpo coming off an excellent World Cup individually, scoring three goals and registering one assist in his four appearances.

He is often the man for his country's biggest event, even if he is not a star back on Merseyside, and a change of scenery may be what is needed for his talents to truly shine.
That's not to say the former PSV Eindhoven man hasn't been useful in a Liverpool shirt, notably scoring and assisting 14 goals in the 2024/25 title-winning campaign.
He followed that up with 12 goal involvements this time around, while creating 21 'big chances' over the past two seasons, including 1.1 key passes per game in 2024/25, and 1.5 per game in 2024/26.
In comparison, that record is not very similar to Roger's return to Villa, the young man has scored 34 goals since the start of 2024/25, while leading in terms of 'big chances' created (29).
In terms of key passes, Rogers averaged 1.3 last term and 1.4 last year.
Both men, obviously, boast a high-quality product, either in terms of goals or assists, real creative shops, whether they work as a player on the left wing or a more important role – in the case of Gakpo as a false nine instead of number ten.
Like Rogers, Gakpo is another good, eye-catching forward who thrives in that left channel, someone who can pull his side forward from deep, while boasting some amazing production quality, as seen in his hit list to the far corner.
He was a bully at times on Merseyside, but at his best he looked like a “monster” in Liverpool's front line, in the view of journalist Declan Carr, there is no reason why De Zerbi can't get the best of him next season.
If Rogers is out of reach, then Gakpo appears to be the exception, with the Liverpool man listed as the 20 most similar players to Rogers in Europe's top seven leagues last season, according to Scout Lab.
That's a promising sign, now it's a case of watching and waiting to see if Liverpool will come in at some point this summer.
