LARRY KUDLOW: Lindsey Graham will be hitting Iran harder now

Senator Lindsey Graham was America's greatest patriot. He was a freedom fighter. He was bringing back the old Republican party that avoided isolation and understood that America must never back down from its friends, allies, or the cause of freedom.
He was a great friend of Israel at a time when too many in American politics were turning their backs on Israel. And even backsliding on the hateful anti-religiousness that plagues the socialist-leaning Democratic Party today, and even regrettably, creeping into other extreme elements in the GOP.
In this and in many matters concerning foreign policy, Graham knew the difference between right and wrong, good and evil. He passed away on Saturday. But he would not be happy with the events that took place on Sunday in the Middle East.
Here's how President Trump, a dear friend of Lindsey Graham, reported on Fox & Friends this morning: “So something nobody knows. Yesterday they had an 11-hour meeting. Everything is 11 hours with these guys. You know, you can't solve one sentence in one hour and one minute. It has to be one minute. And everything was agreed upon yesterday.”
Mr. Trump added: “And they come out of the room and they come back and they say we should have made a few changes. We have to make changes. We're not going to make changes. They change all the time. They just, you know, are professional negotiators. That's all they are. I don't even call them good at it. They got nothing from me.”
Fox News senior strategy analyst Ret. Gen. Jack Keane discusses Iran's unwavering commitment to its nuclear and ballistic missile programs in 'Kudlow.'
If I understand the sequence of times here, yesterday means Sunday, according to Mr. Trump, there was an 11-hour meeting with Iran already, and everything was agreed upon. Presumably that means opening up the Strait of Hormuz, and eliminating Iran, and removing that country's enriched Uranium. And then, the Iranians left the room shortly after that, and they came back and said we have to make changes.
The next thing you know – it's still yesterday, Sunday – the Iranians hit an oil tanker in the Straits, then went on to bomb Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Six of our Gulf partners.
These decisions were probably made within an hour or two, after this 11-hour meeting agreement that turned out to be a complete lie. Which is what the Iranians do, they lie. It is the nature of their dirty, horrible, barbaric, Nazi-like regime.
Now, in response to that, as I understand the chronology here, reported by Mr. Trump, the commander-in-chief has decided that the United States will be the guardian of the Strait of Hormuz, and restore the ban on Iranian naval vessels. Later today, Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social that he will make the State of the Nation Address on Thursday at 9pm Eastern. In some ways it seems that America's response to Iran's escalation of hostilities should be greater. Now we may hear that Thursday evening, but not tonight.
And by the way, in addition to Iran's repeated violations of the ceasefire, and the memorandum of understanding, by blowing up the oil tanks and our partners in the Gulf countries and the American military bases, our satellite images found that Iran appears to be using the sale of oil estimated at $5 billion given to them earlier, to rebuild their nuclear installations in Pickaxe and Parchin Mountains.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich reflects on the legacy of Sen. Lindsey Graham, RS.C., also discusses the renewed US strikes against Iran on 'Kudlow.'
To be sure, we bombed them a lot in recent days. And that is important. And to be sure when you cross the red line with Mr. Trump, you will pay. However I would imagine that the late Senator Graham would call for even bigger strikes on Iran right now, tonight.
And maybe those big strikes are actually coming. I hope so. I got to know Lindsey over the years. I loved his funny jokes. And the good job he did as budget chairman on one, big, good bill last year.
By the way, Senator Ron Johnson, a purveyor of the free market, could be the next Senate budget chairman. Wouldn't that be something. Graham also defended Judge Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court hearing in September 2018. He was not really an economic guy, and I never agreed with him and his group of eight bipartisan efforts to solve immigration, or climate change, or other domestic issues. Yet when it comes to protecting America, and our allies, and the freedoms that have made this country the greatest nation in the history of history, my hat goes to the late Senator, Lindsey Graham.
