Montreal Canadiens Make A Move When Least Expected?

Should trade expectations be high this summer in Montreal?
Jim Biringer of NHLRumors.com, Full Press Hockey, and RG Media joined TSN Radio in Montreal and were asked if the Montreal Canadiens will make a move this offseason.
Writing for NHLRumors.com
Host: “Jim, you're waiting – like, what are we waiting for here to finish the summer before we get to camp? I'm looking here. We get a show every single day between 12 and 1. It's one hour dedicated to the Montreal Canadiens. Habs lunch, and a lot of text messages coming in, a lot of tweets coming in, I guess I'm getting frustrated. I'm getting frustrated. Most, Pete, I think it's fair to say that a lot of people are calling and the texters were expecting something.
But what do you say to them Jim? What do you say to Habs fans that means, is there more to be done? We'll wait until some of these offer sheets sit, and maybe other teams will look at their rosters, and believe there are still moves to be made. I'm going to be selfish because we're on TSN 690, and I want it to be a Habs move. But with other teams in this league, do you expect there to be a move between now and the beginning of September?”
NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens, Bryan Rust and Kirby Dach
Jim Biringer: “Yeah, I think there's going to be a move made. Look, with the Montreal Canadiens, we've seen this before. Kent Hughes is taking his time. He's testing the market. Patience, right? Jeff Gorton talked about this too. Patience, counting. That's what they did. I mean, we expected a big move. We all expected a move. Wrestling fans are expecting something big, a big surprise that's going to happen in the Draft or July 1.
But the years they locked up their guys, it was later in the offseason that they did something. A few years ago, it was Patrik Laine's move. Take a risk there. I believe they will do something. They just have to find the best player for them and the best salary they can bring. They call, but again, it takes two to tango, as Kent Hughes said.
And with other teams around the league, I think we have to wait and see what the market is for guys like Adam Fantilli and Connor Bedard in Chicago, and what happens with Quinn Hughes in Minnesota. Apparently, Macklin Celebrini will be extended to San Jose. That is something they will be looking at.
But if you go to a title contending team, Dallas, say, Colorado, a team like that, maybe you can get a player that's needed, that can go on your roster and fill a need, but again, it always counts.
They will not just stand up and take action because everyone in the unit has done something. Montreal is in good shape. You get another year of your young players. Maybe Oliver Kapanen takes another step. Apparently, the Kirby Dach settlement hearing is coming up. Are they getting there? Is that the episode they're from?
NHL Rumors: Patrick Kane, and Kirby Dach
So I expect something from the Montreal Canadiens. If it happens, it's probably where we least expect it. That's what I believe.”
