Delta Air Lines is introducing cheaper fares in some of its premium cabins, but travelers will have to give up some things.
The Atlanta-based airline announced Wednesday the introduction of three new “basic” fares, extending its affordable pricing model to premium cabins, including Delta First, Delta Premium Select and Delta One.
The new fare options are Delta First Basic, Delta Premium Select Basic and Basic Business, which are Delta One's low-cost fares.
“This expansion gives customers more ways to choose the Delta experience that best fits their trip and a new way to access our premium products,” said Joe Esposito, Delta's vice president and chief commercial officer, in a statement.

New payments are now available for purchase. It includes the same cruise experience as Delta's premium fares but comes with limitations.
Customers booking payments will be assigned seats after check-in, earn fewer miles, receive reduced checked bag fees and will not be eligible for upgrades.
Changes to same-day trips will also not be allowed, and changes or cancellations will incur a fee, according to the airline.
Travelers on basic tickets will also need another way to access Delta Sky Clubs, such as a Sky Club membership or an eligible credit card.

Basic Business customers will still receive the Delta One experience on board, including boarding in Zone 1, lie-flat seats, fine dining, hot towel service, bedding and amenities, according to Delta.
However, Basic Business tickets will not include Delta One check-in or Delta One Lounge access after Jan. 18, 2027, unless the traveler has other means of entry.
Delta said customers flying Basic Business will continue to receive those benefits that day as travelers adjust to the new boarding rules.
Delta First Basic is now available on select domestic and Latin American routes operated by Delta.
Delta Premium Select Business Basic and Basic are also available for purchase now, with travel starting in September on select domestic and long-haul international routes.

Delta previously signaled that it plans to bring more boarding options to its premium cabins.
Glen Hauenstein, former president of Delta, said on an earnings call in July 2025 that the plane's main cabin compartment serves as a frame for its premium seats, according to CNBC.
“Different people have different needs,” he said at the time.
