NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames Looking to Add Young NHL Players
The Flames as part of the return for these two players gave the Devils a 2026 second round pick (35th overall) that the New York Rangers sent to Calgary at the deadline, a 2027 first round draft pick (Flames acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights), a 2028 first round draft pick (acquired by the Avalanche) both protected by Colorado Morin.
Per @FriedgeHNIC the Devils not only sent Nemec RFA and Tsyplakov to Calgary they also went back to 2nd this year (it was NYR), Vegas 1st 2027, Colorado 1st 2028 (both top 10 protected and Etienne Morin #njdevils #flames

The Flames get the second pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, who can play top-four minutes on the right side. He can play on the power play and show the ability to lead the offense from the back with Team Slovakia at the Olympics.
Simon Nemec, acquired by CGY, is a young offensive D who has shown impressive ability with a knack for jumping into the offense and making plays with the puck as a rover. His poor defensive play and struggles at the bottom of the lineup hurt his profile. pic.twitter.com/BMlLp13eHx

Eric Francis: Craig Conroy didn't have to use any of the Flames' first-round picks to get a defenseman as high as Nemec.
NHL rumors: St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, and Buffalo Sabres
William Eklund to the Ottawa Senators
It wasn't long after the Simon Nemec trade that the Ottawa Senators sent the 9th pick from the 2026 NHL Draft to the San Jose Sharks for William Eklund, Kasper Halttunen, and Brandon Svoboda.

Ottawa Senators Will Look To Add, After Dealing With Brady Tkachuk For Future
GM Steve Staios said Monday that his phone was ringing off the hook, and it really did during his press conference, regarding the 9th and 25th picks. He wanted to improve the team, and trading Brady Tkachuk on Sunday would benefit the team in the long term.
William Eklund appears headed to the @Senators . While we await the details of the return, this may be Ottawa's smartest addition. Eklund is developing into an excellent playmaker whose weaknesses are disappearing. That is a skill that can be developed over time. pic.twitter.com/QrzuuBGvZm

It was expected that the Senators would not take a player with the 9th overall pick and would instead use it on a sure thing. They had the ammunition and assets to find an NHL-ready player for their timeline, and that's exactly what they did with Eklund.

NHL Rumors: Werenski, Tuch, Byram, Hellebuyck, Larkin, Knies and Robertson
The Capitals are getting a top-six player they've been chasing since the trade deadline. Kyrou waived his no-trade clause to go to the Capitals.
Jordan Kyrou, acquired by WSH, is a dynamic winger with sick hands, wheels, and the ability to be a dual threat, especially off the rush. The finish is down this year, previously it was strong. His D metrics were also very good this year; I don't know if I can count on that though. pic.twitter.com/TXFzRm7aPC
