Richard Hughes entered the talks as the Liverpool star informed the club of the decision to leave

Richard Hughes is likely to be a busy man this summer and the first task on his to-do list looks set to revolve around the future of the needy Liverpool star.
The Liverpool boss is working to resolve the future of the Liverpool star
Even Mohamed Salah's farewell at Anfield was full of unanswered questions. There was no speech and no final farewell to Arne Slot. Instead, the Dutchman watched on from the bench as the departing star, along with the rest of the team, took their shoulder to close out the campaign. What a breakup there has been in the show.
However, it is Slot that the Anfield chiefs are set back. The Premier League winner already has a loan in the bank in his favor and will be backed by reinforcements this summer.
Although the dressing room continues to look very divided during his tenure, however, there is a good chance that the Reds will be showing the door to some talented players.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Hughes flew in to sort out the future of Curtis Jones, who has told Inter Milan he wants to complete a move to San Siro this summer.
Hughes is reported to have met the club's sporting director, Piero Ausilio, in Monte Carlo in a bid to discuss Jones' deal in the coming months.
Of course, this isn't the first time that Inter have come calling for the midfielder, either. Back in January, Liverpool were forced to close the door on Jones, blocking his move to the Italian giants. Now, with his contract set to expire in a year, they may have no choice but to cash in.
Liverpool must do everything to keep Jones
At a time when values are in question, keeping hold of a graduate should be a priority for Liverpool – especially someone of Jones' profile.
The Reds' full-back options have endured a difficult campaign, but Jones is not to blame for that. In fact, as an elite football developer, he is exactly what Liverpool need and they know it well. That's why they've been linked to the big money mover of Adam Wharton, who shares that profile.
Unless Jones is looking for a move, Anfield officials should save their money and ensure their academy graduates are given priority next season.

The last thing Liverpool need right now is for the midfielder to leave and prove them wrong. It can accept questions that Slot will not be eager to avoid and only leave them to spend a lot of money this summer.
