Will there be more Trades this offseason

Will it be a quiet season, or will teams be able to make moves?

The Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta joined Steve Kouleas and Anthony Stewart on the Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Power Play segment and was asked if there will be more trades this offseason, given the small free agent market.

Anthony Swewart: “What are your thoughts on the upcoming free agent frenzy? Well, obviously, the cap is going up a lot. The UFA is a little thin compared to the big names, and some years, a lot of RFAs are going to be strong. So we're going to see more trades in the draft that lead to free agent attacks. So, take your first day to wake up, or your first day will wake up, or July day will wake up. Will I wake up when it's over?”

Dave Pagnotta: “Stewie. I hope it's your popcorn, because last year, we thought. We were happy when the Noah Dobson trade happened, and then that happened. We had nothing until the season started. I think it's going to be different.

There are different feelings of urgency from different groups. Others who want to compete quickly, unwilling to make bold moves, have no options in free agency. They have to go the trade way, and some of you know are willing to take out pieces, get small supplies, and take advantage of the fact that this is going to be a very shallow pool.

We know that Charlie Coyle stayed in Columbus on a six-year contract. There is to discuss. I did the whole Buffalo-Montreal series. There is talk that maybe there is a way to a deal there with Alex Tuch and the Sabers to move on. He is, as of now, a free agent, ready for July 1, but some people would be a little surprised now if he leaves.

There's your piece of the prize, and you're looking at other potential assets, and that might force other teams that might want to pursue a guy like Alex Tuch in July, potentially forcing them back into the trade market. And that's where we might hear a lot of names like (Jordan) Kyrou and (Alexis) Lafreniere's and others might come up.

NHL Rumors: NY Rangers, John Carlson, and Offseason NHL Trade Tiers

Like, there were a lot of people who thought Owen Tippett was going to play this summer. However, based on his injury in the finals, how long is that recovery time? And does that affect trade talks with Philadelphia? Did they turn the other way to that club? What happened to waiting for goals?

Teams curious about Connor Hellebuyck. Like, things are getting a little messy, guys. The offseason, Kooli, may be off to a slow start because of how things are on the free agent market. It's still early, but things are slowly starting to pick up. “
