Minnesota Wild, Quinn Hughes, and Center Position

The Minnesota Wild want an extension for Quinn Hughes and need a center
Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta was on the Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Power Play segment with Steve Kouleas and Anthony Stewart, and was asked about the Minnesota Wild's priorities this offseason. As Pagnotta noted, it's about extending Quinn Hughes and getting a number-one or number-two center.

One Priority for the Minnesota Wild This Offseason: Find a Center
Steve Kouleas: “Bill Guerin, what's important is that somebody gets rid of Quinn Hughes. It's too early. I don't know if you have anything on that, but I know you've got some potential to improve in Minnesota at center. What can you tell us, Dave?”
Dave Pagnotta: “Quinn Hughes is the first number of the Minnesota Wild in this extraordinary season, and he cannot officially sign until July 1. That does not mean that they will not be able to negotiate between now and then. So they will try to strengthen that and try to get him locked in his extension, and by all indications, the prevention of this critical event, what will happen is just in the amazing stages, it is impossible. if, and the number two almost by all the indicators that they improve in the middle.
They try to do that in the regular season. They looked at Vinny Trocheck, and couldn't cut the terms on that deal with the New York Rangers. I'm sure they'll circle back to see if anything has changed on that. Look for other options at the top and middle. We know from Michael Russo's report that they are trying to get Robert Thomas out of St. We know they kicked some players all last season.
They busted Brock Nelson last year, and busted Nazem Kadri this year; both are with the Avs right now. They are looking at Jesperi Kotkaniemi as a possible fit. We know he hasn't been playing much in the playoffs with Carolina right now as they prepare for their Eastern Conference battle with Montreal.
Quinn Hughes is open to an extension with the Minnesota Wild
But Minnesota is looking to see where they are at midfield, and how they can improve it now. One of the chips they might have had, in terms of making a trade, would have been one of their assistants.
Jesper Wallstedt was in a package offered to Robert Thomas this season, which was rejected by St. But Filip Gustavsson, as Bill Guerin said, will have to have hip surgery, and will be out for a long time. They hope he is ready for the start of the regular season. One of those players would be a chip that will be used in the trading market. It doesn't look like that will happen right now.
So, you'll have to look for other resources, and they have a solid foundation of hope and some solid assets to hang with. But, in addition to the suspension of Quinn Hughes, I would say that the most important thing for this team will be trying to see if they can find a legitimate center for the first or second line to increase the chances of going after the Stanley Cup next year.”
