Arsenal hold talks to sign 'one of the best in the world' Trossard

Arsenal may have scored just two goals in their last two games but the momentum seems to have shifted at the Emirates Stadium.
Before their 3-0 win over Fulham, you could cut the situation with a knife. They had beaten Newcastle by the skin of their teeth but what Mikel Arteta and his supporters wanted was to make a statement.
They found that out against the Cottagers nine days ago, a victory that took them to the top of the table in midweek, beating Atletico Madrid to reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2006.
Although their 1-0 win over West Ham was abysmal, the forward line has improved a lot in the last week or so. Viktor Gyokeres, Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka were all on the scoresheet.
Arsenal could sign Trossard upgrade for big money
Trossard may have scored his first goal of 2026 against the Hammers on Sunday, but that shouldn't stop the manager from exiting the transfer market and finding a replacement this summer.
The most exciting link has undoubtedly been for PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, he is the star man at the Paris club right now and prying him out of the French capital seems unlikely.
Real Madrid's Rodrygo might have opted for it but for an ACL injury. The Gunners have been keeping an eye on him.
AC Milan's Rafael Leao is another player Arsenal are interested in and could be snapped up at the San Siro for a cut-price £60m.
Speaking of price cuts, Bradley Barcola is the subject of this piece. In recent weeks, reports have surfaced detailing Arsenal's interest in one of PSG's attackers.
However, their interest in the Frenchman sounds more specific than what happened to Kvaratskhelia.
Indeed, according to TEAMtalk, a number of English football clubs are interested in bringing Barcola across the channel to English shores.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United are said to be monitoring his future as all those clubs have held preliminary talks with the player's camp regarding his presence.
The winger's agent is currently looking at Barcola's options this summer as his contract at PSG comes to a standstill. As a result, he can be had for around £62m.
How does Barcola compare to Trossard
It was great to see Trossard's dwindling numbers return to their best form last week.
It has been a busy season and busy year for the Belgian, who comes into Sunday's game against West Ham, having not scored a goal in 2026. In fact, he hasn't found the back of the net in any of the last 25 games.
It was a bad situation but in the last two league games, in particular, he was running a lot. Against Fulham, the defender completed his career high with six dribbles in one game while also providing Gyokeres' second assist.
He was even better against West Ham on Sunday, not only coming up with the brace that kept Arsenal in contention for the title but also showing a great level of work throughout.
After the full 90 minutes, his goal stood out but a good challenge to recover in the first half also caught the eye. Trossard somehow found himself at center back after West Ham switched forwards, and after the ball was played back into the right channel, the 31-year-old gathered to sniff out danger.
Replacing someone like Trossard in terms of work rate and field of vision will be tricky. The Belgian player is always ready to play.
However, the truth of the matter is that Arsenal need more quality on the left, quality like Saka on the right. Barcola can provide that.
While Trossard enjoyed a 17-goal season in the famous red and white back in 2023/24, those days are behind him now. He has only eight goals this season, six of which have come in the league.
In comparison, Barcola has scored 12 in all competitions. Analyzing the numbers in depth, it's a surprising win for the 23-year-old PSG sensation.

One looks at the stats and it's clear to see why Como scout Ben Mattinson described him as “one of the best players in the world.”
While he may not have had the 21-goal and 21-assist season he had last season, Barcola has still been impressive. Compared to Trossard, he is more of a goal threat and a more effective goal shooter.
The PSG star may not overcome many mistakes in 90 minutes but he produces a lot of plays. Arsenal have lacked a similar threat down the left flank for much of this season. A straightforward and tricky Barcola can help fix that problem.
If the fee is around £62m, then Andrea Berta and Co should be on top of this one.
