Puck Pedia: The Utah Mammoth signed 2025 fourth-round pick, forward Yegor Borikov to a three-year entry-level contract with a $995,000 cap hit and $967,000 AAV.

Year 1: $850,000 NHL, $95,000 Signing Bonus, $5,000 GP Bonus, and $85,000 in minors
Year 2: $900,000 NHL, $95,000 signing bonus, and $85,000 in minors

Puck Pedia: The Washington Capitals signed undrafted, 24-year-old forward Theodor Niederbach to a one-year deal with a cap hit of $1.025 million and an AAV of $1.275 million.

Injury Notes

Rachel Lenzi: Buffalo Sabers defenseman Rasmus Dahlin on the late game 'injury' he suffered in Game 1: “It hurts, but I'm not hurt, I'll say that.”

Evan Rawal: Colorado Avalanche forward Joel Kiviranta practiced yesterday while defensemen Josh Manson and Cale Makar did not practice.

Bailey Curtis: It was the first time Kiviranta finished the 1st round. Coach Jared Bednar said last week that he was day-to-day.

Lia Assimakopoulos: Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen tore his MCL in the Olympics. No surgery is needed. GM Jim Nill said he wished Rantanen would have recovered another week or two before returning. Nill added: “I never thought it was him.

Lia Assimakopoulos: Long list of injured players this season.

  • “Oskar Bäck – wrist injury in October, missed 10 games, sprained his shoulder in the playoffs.
  • Nathan Bastian – broke finger, had surgery, would be available for second round
  • Jamie Benn – punctured a lung in camp, a concussion in December
  • Lian Bichsel – broken leg and ankle in regular season, 32 games, sprained shoulder in last game of playoffs, will be fine
  • Michael Bunting – groin injury, not available until playoffs
  • Matt Duchene – concussion, missed 25 games in regular season
  • Adam Erne – MCL sprain in December, missed 4-6 weeks
  • Radek Faksa – a fight at the Olympics, then a serious foot injury after being stepped on a skate, he is still in serious condition, he did not think he would play at all, he may need more surgery, cut a muscle.
  • Thomas Harley – broke his foot in November, missed 12 games
  • Roope Hintz – sick at the Olympics, tore twice in the first game back, on the way back, got hurt again on the approach.
  • Artu Hyry – high ankle sprain in playoffs, out another 2-4 weeks
  • Nils Lundkvist – who suffered a broken leg and ankle in the regular season, facial lacerations in the playoffs, is “a very lucky man,” said Nill, who also had controversy over facial injuries.
  • Mikko Rantanen – tore his MCL in the Olympics, came back very quickly but never again
  • Tyler Seguin – torn ACL in December.
  • Ilya Lyubushkin – injured his shoulder in the regular season
  • Sam Steel – suffered a groin injury during the regular season
  • Tyler Myers – suffered a groin injury during the regular season
  • Miro Heiskanen – he had tears in his eyes just before the playoffs started, he was not well, he had an ankle injury in the playoffs”

Oilers and Maple Leafs Talked Darnell Nurse, and Sharks First Round Pick

Joe Smith: Minnesota Wild coach Jon Hynes did not have an update on Joel Eriksson Ek or defenseman Jonas Brodin. Both players have not skated since their injuries.

  • Joe Smith: Despite not skating, Hynes would not say whether or not Eriksson Ek will be out of the lineup on Saturday. Brodin is improving and they are “hopeful” he could be on the roster.
