The Toronto Maple Leafs will introduce Sundin as senior hockey consultant and John Chayka as GM later today.
Sportsnet: The Toronto Maple Leafs will hold a press conference at 1:00 pm ET to introduce Mats Sundin as senior advisor of hockey operations and John Chayka as GM.
Friedman: “Yeah, so we wanted to wait until we knew as much as possible. So here's what we have. The Maple Leafs are expected to make an announcement about their new hockey operations department at a press conference.”
What we expect them to announce is Matt Sundin's return to the position of senior hockey operations advisor. It is a full-time commitment. Sundin and his family will return to Toronto and John Cheka as the new general manager.

No other additions or changes are planned for Monday. So that's a rumor for the past few days, and we expect them to make it official sometime later. Sundin is the senior advisor for hockey operations, and Chayka as the new GM.
Ron Maclean: “So who's answering?
Friedman: “Okay, so the structure. That's a question a lot of people will have, and I think we'll find out more tomorrow. But here's my understanding of how it's going to work.
It is clear that the aim is for both to cooperate and make decisions. But there has to be someone who reports to the president of MLSE, that is Keith Pelley, and that will be Chayka.
Now, during the interview process, the Maple Leafs, whoever they are interviewing, are advertising the position as their head of hockey operations, and Chayka will be that. He will report to Keith Pelley, from what I heard.
