Liverpool are now planning a £35m move for the La Liga star after Everton's failure

Liverpool are lining up a summer move for Real Betis star Abde Ezzalzouli, following Everton's failure during the January transfer window.

The Reds scored in a 2-1 win against Everton earlier this month, in their first ever Merseyside game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, before following it up with a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

A total of three wins on the spin in the Premier League put Arne Slott's side in the strongest possible position to qualify for the Champions League, while the Toffees dropped to 11th place after losing 2-1 against West Ham United.

Having outplayed their rivals on the pitch, the 2024-25 Premier League winners now look to David Moyes' side for one in the transfer market.

Everton made an approach to sign Ezzalzouli in the winter, which ultimately fell through, with the left-winger, valued at around £35m, remaining at Real Betis.

However, a move to England could still be on the cards, according to a report from Diario de Sevilla (via Sport Witness), which claims that Liverpool are looking to sign an 'explosive player' in the summer, and are planning a move for the Betis star.

Hailed as “extraordinary” by former Barcelona boss Xavi, the Moroccan international has been among the goals and assists for the Spanish side in every competition this season.

The 24-year-old is enjoying his best season so far in front of goal, although his main position is on the left wing, and bringing in a player on the right wing could be a priority, with the legendary Mohamed Salah set to leave at the end of the season.

Mohamed Salah may have played Liverpool's last game

Salah was forced off with a hamstring injury in the recent win against Crystal Palace, Liverpool are still awaiting the results of a scan, but Virgil van Dijk believes the Egyptian will get the release he deserves in the final game of the season, at home to Brentford.

“I know he is doing everything he can to get back on the field as soon as possible,” said the centre-back.

“When you're injured at this stage of the season, especially in the situation he's in, with only two games left to play at home, it's a combination of emotions that come to your mind.

“I hope he won't be too long, maybe he'll come back next week, maybe not, I don't know.

“You're going to get a send off no matter what it is.

“Knowing Mo, he's a quick month and he's got the right people around him and let's see.”
