The Coast Guard suspends a search for a Norwegian Cruise Line crew member on board the ship

The US Coast Guard has temporarily detained a member of a search party aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship bound for Boston after the person was seen falling overboard on security video.

“HC144 began an aerial search with the crew of Station Provincetown,” Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England told Fox News, adding that “the search has been suspended until further information at 12:25 p.m. [p.m.] local time.”

The incident involved the Norwegian Breakaway, which was traveling from Bermuda to Boston when authorities were notified that a crew member had boarded the boat about 12 miles east of Wellfleet, Massachusetts.

The ship returned to the last known human location and sent a rescue boat and life rings in an attempt to help.
