Rohl could ditch Moore by releasing Rangers' version of Maswanhise

Glasgow Rangers welcome Motherwell to Ibrox in their 34th Scottish Premiership game of the season to win their first title since the 2020/21 campaign.

Danny Rohl's side will have to be wary of the opposition's attack this afternoon, especially midfielder Tawanda Maswanhise.

The Zimbabwean has scored 17 goals and provided two assists in 33 games for Motherwell in the league this season, who has scored more goals than any player in this division.

Meanwhile, no Rangers player has scored more than 11 goals for Rohl in the league, indicating that Maswanhise will be the biggest goal threat at Ibrox.

There is a world where the Light Blues go into the game with the ex-Leicester man in their squad, however, after interest was reported earlier in the year.

What has been said about Rangers' desire to sign Tawanda Maswanhise

Towards the end of the transfer window in January, it was reported that Glasgow Rangers are one of the teams that want to sign Maswanhise.

The Gers and Celtic are both said to be eyeing the 23-year-old striker ahead of the transfer window deadline to strengthen their attack.

Motherwell demanded £5m for his signing when they made that reported interest and the striker ended up staying at the club beyond the transfer deadline.

Despite his impressive goalscoring output, neither Rangers nor Celtic pushed hard enough to convince Motherwell to cash in on the top goalscorer, and the Gers went on to sign Ryan Naderi from Hansa Rostock instead.

The German striker was injured in the game against Motherwell, unfortunately, but there is another Light Blues star who could be released like Rohl's game for Maswanhise.

The likely Rangers star is Danny Rohl's Tawanda Maswanhise

In last week's 6-3 win over Falkirk, Mike Moore struggled in the first half before coming off with his side 2-1 down, and he could confidently leave the starting line-up on Sunday, despite starting 21 of 28 league appearances so far.

Rohl could replace the Tottenham Hotspur loanee by changing the formation from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2, as he did at the break against Falkirk, bringing Bojan Miovski to the striker and moving Thelo Aasgaard out.

The player from North Macedonia came off the bench and scored three goals in the last two games in the Premiership, scoring twice against Falkirk and one against Dundee United.

Miovski has now scored five goals in his last eight games and eight goals in his last 13 games for the Light Blues, and he has scored 13 goals in 38 games in all competitions.

The former Aberdeen player has finally hit his stride at Ibrox and it has come at the right time, right in the middle of the title fight, which is why he should be brought into the XI to start alongside Youssef Chermiti against Motherwell.

Miovski could be Rohl's version of Maswanhise in the way he can finish chances at high speed, having scored seven goals at 5.99 xG in the Premiership.

The Rangers striker hasn't changed much as a Motherwell player, which is why he has only managed seven league goals, but he is as good as he is on current form.

Maswanhise has scored four goals in the last eight games for his team, while Miovski has scored five in the last eight, and this means that the Gers striker could go into Sunday's game hot if he is selected as the starter.

After Moore's struggles against Falkirk last week, Rohl could drop the winger from the squad to replace Miovski and Chermiti as a dangerous pair against Motherwell.

Maswanhise is a formidable player, which is why Rangers wanted to sign him in the January transfer window, but the Light Blues may be able to release him at the weekend, and he could be even more successful in front of goal.
