Kuwait's military says its air defenses have intercepted Iranian missiles, a drone attack as Iran says it launched an attack.

Kuwait's military said its air defenses repelled missile and drone attacks, the military said Monday, and the country also blamed Iran.

“The General Staff of the Army wishes to advise that any sounds of explosions that are heard are the result of air defense systems preventing this brutal attack,” the military said on the X website.

The State Department later said in a statement that it “holds Iran fully accountable for these attacks.”

KUNA, the state-run news agency, reported that air raid sirens were being sounded across the Gulf state, which borders the US.

The attack appears to have come from the powerful Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) after the United States invaded Iran over the weekend.

In a statement, the IRGC said that “following the US military attack a few hours ago” on the port of Sirik, the IRGC hit “the airbase where the attack began, and the pre-determined targets were destroyed.”

It warned that “if such violence is repeated, the response will be completely different,” and “responsibility for the consequences” will lie with the US.

Trump says Iran “really wants to make a deal” and that “everything will work out in the end”

President Trump, speaking in his Public Truth forum at about 1 a.m. Eastern Monday, blasted critics of his handling of the Iran war and offered new hope that a deal to end the conflict may still be close.

“Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be good for the USA and our allies,” he wrote. “But the Dumocrats, and the various Republicans who seem uninterested, understand that it is VERY DIFFICULT for me to do my job properly and negotiate, when the political hacks are always 'crying,' at unprecedented levels, over and over again, that I should go faster, or go slower, or go to war, or not go to war, any rest, it's always over!

US launches more “defensive strikes” on Iran's radar and drone sites, CENTCOM says

The US military launched “defensive strikes” targeting Iran's radar sites and drone command and control centers over the weekend, US Central Command said on Sunday.

“The calculated and deliberate strikes took place on Saturday and Sunday in response to Iranian aggression including the downing of a US MQ-1 drone operating in international waters,” CENTCOM said. “U.S. warplanes responded quickly by eliminating Iranian air defenses, a ground control station, and two anti-missile attack aircraft that posed clear threats to ships passing through regional waters.”

US strikes targets at Goruk and Qeshm Island, CENTCOM says.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps said early Monday local time that it had targeted an airfield it says the US had used to attack a communications tower on Siri Island, state media reported, although the IRGC did not specify which base it was targeting or where.

Kuwait, for its part, said its air defenses included incoming drone and missile fire early Monday. The guard's statement may refer to the invasion of Kuwait.

Defense officials told CBS News on Monday morning that a new round of strikes against Iran were taking place in the Strait of Hormuz, one off the coast and one on an island in the latest military escalation during the ceasefire.

The US has lost at least one Predator and Reaper drones worth millions of dollars, mostly to Iranian fire, since the war began.

Trump's plans for a potential Iran deal are focused on the Strait of Hormuz, which is enriched with uranium, the source said.

President Trump's arrangement in the US-Iran memorandum of understanding includes important changes related to the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of highly enriched uranium, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.

Broad passages of the memorandum include a 60-day ceasefire, as well as sections calling for the reopening of the strait and a framework for reopening talks on Iran's nuclear program.

Multiple sources told CBS that the plan also includes the ability to waive or ease sanctions on Iran that would allow it to access billions in frozen assets depending on the progress of the talks.

Mediators led by Pakistan hold talks between Washington and Tehran. The details of each exchange are limited. Mr. Trump had said on Friday that he would make a final decision on the deal that day, but then another draft was sent to Iran. Mr. Trump told Lara Trump in a taped interview Thursday that he was “in no rush” to make a deal.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment. Axios was the first to report on Mr. Trump in the memorandum.

US workers, contractors injured in missile strike in Kuwait, US official says

Four US service members and three contractors suffered minor injuries related to an Iranian ballistic missile strike on Kuwait's airport last week, a US official told CBS News.

All seven returned to work within 24 hours, the official said.

Iran launched a missile aimed at Kuwait at 10:17 pm Eastern time on Wednesday, CENTCOM had previously said. The missile was intercepted by Kuwaiti forces. Kuwait also reported drone and missile attacks on Thursday morning.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said on Thursday it targeted a US base in retaliation for US strikes in the southern part of the country, although it did not specify where the base was. The US described its strikes as defensive.

Netanyahu says capturing the Lebanese palace marks a “major turning point” in the campaign

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to push deeper into Lebanon after his army seized power in Beaufort on Sunday, calling it a “big change” in the campaign against Hezbollah.

The Israeli military has used the Beaufort fortress, also known as Qalaat al-Chakif, as a base during the decade-long occupation of southern Lebanon that ended in 2000.

In a video statement released hours after the army took Beaufort, Netanyahu said “we are back united, determined and stronger than before”.

“Now my order is to deepen and expand our hold on the areas that were under the control of Hezbollah. The capture of Beaufort is a remarkable milestone and a major change in the policy we are leading.”

The push for Beaufort came when the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of areas south of the Zahrani River, north of Litani and about 25 kilometers from the border. It said it was targeting “Hezbollah infrastructure in Tire and other additional areas in southern Lebanon” as Lebanon's National News Agency reported a series of strikes in the area.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam accused Israel on Saturday of pursuing a “scorched earth policy and collective punishment” in the south, calling for a ceasefire.

France said on Sunday it requested an urgent meeting of the Security Council of the United Nations, because Israel “continues to go deeper into the territory of Lebanon.”

Mediators continue to discuss the US-Iran proposal

Mediators continue to discuss a deal between Iran and the US as of Sunday morning.

President Trump drafted the memorandum on Friday, according to a source familiar with the matter. The draft proposal was then sent back to Tehran for approval. The answer has not been shared.

This is the third round of adjustments the president has made to the US proposal, which has been passed back and forth in Tehran by negotiators. That process is led by Pakistan. The source said the US changes were important although details were not immediately available. There is no immediate deadline.
