Speaking to Tomi, a Mets fan, Syndergaard talked about the departures of fan favorites Brandon Nimmo and Pete Alonso. To him, the changing of the locker room reflects something bigger happening in the city itself.

“It's funny too,” Syndergaard told Lahren. “Those two guys are some of the greatest players I've ever played with, with them, and Jacob deGrom. It's crazy going on in New York.”

“But I mean, if I'm still playing for the Mets or the Yankees, I'm going to be like, oh, this is amazing,” he continued. “Since I can block out the crazy part and stay focused on it, I can play a kid's game in one of the biggest cities in the world.”

“Anyway, he's crazy or, I don't know. He's 34 years old … like I'm 33 and I can't imagine being mayor.”

The “madman” in question: Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Socialist mayor.

Syndergaard, who bled orange and blue for eight years, expressed disbelief that a 34-year-old with Mamdani's plaque was in charge of the best city in the world.

“Well, he's like 34 years old and he's never held a real job,” Syndergaard said.

For the Mets, the curse seems to be more than bad luck on the field. Amazin' has struggled to justify a huge salary with little to show.

Lahren took the criticism further, focusing on Mamdani's political history and describing his “communist leanings and global Intifada” as his rot in City Hall.

When asked what advice he would give the struggling franchise, Syndergaard went off.

“Stop associating with socialist mayors, I think, maybe. …

“I hate to say it, but at the end of the day, the Mets are going to the Met,” he said. “I think I can say that because I bled orange and blue for eight years. I reached the World Series with them.

“I'm disappointed to see A) what they're inviting to their team and B) the lack of success they're having. It makes absolutely no sense. We have a great reward, and it's not giving them great benefits.”

As Mamdani pushes his agenda at City Hall, the Mets discover that if the city attracts radicalism, its parties may suffer as well.

Until the Mets stop courting Democratic Socialists, they will likely continue to attract bad luck like a magnet. For now, Thor will watch and continue to swing when no one steps up to the plate.
